From camera finding to DUERP line: the monthly near-miss report, step by step
An episode seen by a camera has a zone, a state, a start, an end and a recurrence. A DUERP line has a hazard, a risk, an evaluation and an action. Here is how to get from one to the other.
The single occupational risk assessment document, the DUERP, must be updated at least once a year, and whenever new information about a risk appears.1 In practice the HSE manager keeps it, and at the same time informs and consults the works council (CSE or CSSCT), prepares the insurer’s audits and the labour inspectorate’s visits, and carries out or delegates the rounds.2
What these parties ask for is always the same thing, in different forms: evidence that the site’s risks are known, monitored and corrected. And that is precisely what a well-formed camera finding can provide.
What the inspectorate asks, in numbers
The labour inspectorate runs over 450 controls a year in logistics, mostly on health and safety. Over 2020–2025 that produced about 180 formal notices and 80 offence reports.1 During a control, the questions are about dated states: was the exit clear, was the aisle at full width, since when, and what did you do about it.
An up-to-date DUERP answers the first part. An episode history answers the second.
From an episode to a line
A Camly finding is an episode: a zone, a state described in plain language, a start, an end, a duration and, over the period, a recurrence. A DUERP line is a unit of work, a hazard, a risk, the existing measures, an evaluation, an action, an owner and a deadline. Getting from one to the other is mechanical:
| Episode field | DUERP field | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Zone (camera, location) | Unit of work | Receiving, dock 3, emergency exit B |
| Observed state | Hazard | Emergency exit obstructed by pallets |
| Duration and recurrence | Evaluation (frequency × severity) | 19 days of 22, 48 min on average: high frequency |
| Image, time, camera | Evidence on file | Blurred image of 12 August, 06:42 |
| What already exists | Existing measures | Floor marking, receiving instruction |
| What is missing | Action | Six-pallet buffer zone, shifted slot |
| Who, by when | Owner, deadline | Operations manager, end of September |
| Episodes after the action | Effectiveness follow-up | Average duration down to 12 min |
The figures in the “Example” column illustrate the expected form; they are not a published measurement. The wording comes from the report: the HSE manager does not have to rewrite the finding, only to decide the action.
One report, three readers
The monthly report Camly generates over the chosen period is designed to be read by three people who do not expect the same thing.2
- The HSE manager finds the indicators per zone, the findings log, the recurrence analysis, DUERP-ready wording, and the follow-up of corrective actions.
- The works council (CSE or CSSCT) receives findings per zone only, the methodology, and, in annex, the information note and the GDPR statement. No finding is about a person; stored images are blurred.
- The insurer reads the compliance of the fire zones over time, the trends, and the closure rate of actions.
Three readings, one document, produced without re-keying.
The time it frees
Our market study estimates the HSE time spent on rounds, findings, photos and minutes at about 10 hours a week on a platform, and 4 hours on a mid-size site.2 It is an estimate, to be validated in pilots; no public statistic measures that time. But it says where the gain lies: not in detecting a risk the HSE manager already knows, but in the evidence, the duration and the recurrence they do not have time to assemble by hand.
What Camly does not do
Camly does not assess risks for you and does not fill in the DUERP: it provides the findings, the durations and the wording; the evaluation and the decision stay with the site. It does not monitor employees: findings are about places and states, questions about a person are refused by design, and people are blurred on stored images. It does not act in real time and replaces no emergency procedure.
Where to start
Open your DUERP at the line that comes back from one update to the next without its evaluation changing, for lack of data. Find the camera that sees that unit of work. Thirty days later, the line has a measured frequency, evidence on file, and an action whose effect can be checked.
